München What is Steeplehopping?München, some times known by English-speakers as Munich, was founded in 1158 by Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria. It gets its name from a nearby settlement of Benedictine monks (the word monk coming from the same Latin root, Monacum, as München). München is the state capital of Bayern (engl. Bavaria). It is the third-largest city in Germany (after Berlin and Hamburg) with 1.3 million.
All of my photos of München were taken during a two-week vacation in April 2006. It was my third time there.
